Charles T. Cinney – Obituary

April 28, 2023 By Eastwick Press

Berlin – Charles T. Cinney, 83, passed away peacefully after a long illness on February 17th, 2023 with loved ones at his side. Born on July 21st, 1939, he was the son of the late Mary and George Richmond of Petersburgh, NY.

Charlie was educated in Petersburgh and Hoosick Falls Schools. He was a lifelong Berlin resident who was employed for over 30 years at WJ Cowee in Berlin, and later at the Berlin Central School District for over 20 years in the transportation department as a bus driver and mail carrier. Charlie was a real movie buff and recently went to see the new Elvis movie twice because he loved it so much. He could recall movies from long ago and remember who starred in them. He was an avid wildlife and nature lover and could often be found in the many hollows of the area with his camera in hand, as he was quite the photographer too. New Geothermal System Reducing Library’s Footprint

April 19, 2023 By Eastwick Press

By Chris Tergliafera
I recently had the opportunity to take a tour of the Petersburgh Public Library’s new geothermal heating and cooling system. The first thing you notice—or don’t notice—is the noise coming from the system, as it’s incredibly quiet. The system was running the entire time I was in the building, and the only time I heard it at all was when I was actually in the same room as the furnaces. Even then the noise was only a low hum.

The new system, installed by Choice Heating and Cooling of Cohoes, was made possible by a grant of $94,875 from the Library Construction Grant of New York State. The total cost of the system came to $152,000, but much of the difference between the total price and the grant will be covered by rebates, handled by Choice.

Grafton Town Board Highlights

April 19, 2023 By Eastwick Press

By Chris Tergliafera

The Youth Director job for the Summer Youth Program remains vacant. The board expressed their desire to keep the Grafton Summer Youth Program going, and discussed several possibilities as to how they could continue to search for a director. Ideas included a student returning home for the summer, or advertising in places such as indeed.com. Applicants would need to be 21 or over, work well with children, and be adequate at organizing programs.
