Kristoffer Andrew Ross and Community Potluck

On Saturday, September 21st, at the Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center (PVMCC), 71 Main St, the Fox Hollow Café will host Kristoffer Andrew Ross. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the show starts at 6 pm. Adult admission is $5 and minors are free.

Literacy Volunteers Awarded $10,000

Literacy Volunteers of Rensselaer County (LVORC) has been awarded $10,000 by The McCarthy Charities, Inc., a private foundation based in Troy. The grant will help LVORC with operating expenses and enable LVORC’s professional staff in Troy to administer literacy programs and services that are offered at no cost to adult learners in Rensselaer County.

Karen McGovern Volleyball Tournament

The 25th annual Karen McGovern Volleyball Tournament will take place on Saturday, September 7th. We invite you to join us at The Sandbar to cheer on volleyball teams and participate in our ever-popular auction and raffles. Auction items will be on display, and ticket sales will be available from noon to 2 pm. All funds raised will benefit the Karen and Molly McGovern Fund.

Repair Cafe

On Saturday, September 14th, the Columbia NE Repair Cafe will hold its next event at the Columbia County Climate Carnival in the Fairgrounds, 182 Hudson Ave, from 11 am to 3 pm. Community members are invited to bring their broken items to be repaired by skilled neighbors at no cost.

Expert repair coaches will be on hand to demonstrate how to fix a variety of items, including clocks, lamps, lawn mowers, other small motors, clothing, textiles, jewelry, small wood furniture, and more. Please note, all clothing or textiles must be clean, and one item per person.

William S. Snyder – Obituary

Grafton – William S. “Will” Snyder, 37, was taken away from us way too early from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on August 29th, 2024.

William was born November 22nd, 1986 to Rebecca (Burdick) Greene and Richard Snyder. William graduated from Berlin Central School in 2006. William started his working days at Seagroatt’s in Berlin and then at Berlin True Value and later at Mapledale Farms. Currently he continued his love for farming and enjoyed trucking at Wagner Farms part-time. Luella M. Hoffman – Obituary

Cherry Plain – Luella M. (Goodermote) Hoffman, 96, died Monday, August 26th, 2024 at The Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls.

She was born in Cherry Plain on July 22nd, 1928, the daughter of the late Lewis and Addie (Carr) Goodermote. Wood Memorial Park and check out all the antique and vintage tractors, horse-drawn farm equipment and implements, and contemporary machinery that will be on display from 9 am to 4 pm. Sixth Town Park Officially Opens

The Town of Nassau has officially opened its sixth park, following its fifth park opening, which occurred on May 18th of this year. Alder Brook Park is a 1.6-acre public space located on a reclaimed abandoned commercial site.

The park features an enclosed basketball and pickleball court, small playing field, and fishing access at the confluence of Alder Brook and the Tsatsawassa Creek, located at 10 Town Garage Road.

Stephentown Town Board Highlights

A discussion on solar power within the Stephentown community was a significant topic during the August 19th board meeting.

Presenters from Labella Associates and Longroad Solar presented an 18-page decommissioning plan for a five-megawatt community solar farm on 77 acres on NY Route 22 that has been two and a half years in design. The decommissioning plan would need to be approved by the board to move forward, and this was the first presentation that allowed them to provide feedback on the plan.
