Marilyn M. Homiak — Obituary

BERLIN – Marilyn M. Homiak passed peacefully from this life, surrounded by the love of her family, and entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, February 24th 2025 at the age of 83 years.

Marilyn was born into the loving family of Harold and Della (DeGraw) Rea in Paterson, New Jersey on March 6, 1941. She grew up in Singac, NJ, with her five siblings, and was a graduate of St. Bonaventure High School. Soon after graduation she married the love of her life, Nicholas S. Homiak and began a family. In 1971 Marilyn and Nicholas, with a love for the Taconic Valley, relocated to Berlin, New York to reside and raise their family. Once her children were in school, Marilyn took employment as bookkeeper with Berlin Lumber Company where she worked for many years. Genevieve Kochanowski Bogucki — Obituary

The family of Genevieve Kochanowski Bogucki announces her death on February 25, 2025. She was the daughter of Anthony and Genevieve Labock Kochanowski of Meriden, CT, sister of Dorothy Bryan and Robert Kochanowski. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Bogucki and her children: Ann and Rick, Paul and Roxanne, Mary, Peter and Martha, Andrew and Whitney, and grandchildren Woodrow, Harriet, Kevin, Colleen and Ava. Noon Concert Series Features Scott Hopkins Trio

Talented trio of banjo, bass and drums performs a varied repertoire
The Scott Hopkins Trio will perform a free concert at noon on Thursday, March 6, as part of Hudson Valley Community College’s popular lunchtime concert series. The one-hour performance will take place in the Bulmer Telecommunications Center (BTC) Auditorium on the Troy campus. No reservations or tickets are needed to attend.

Juvenile Felony Convictions

TROY — Rensselaer County District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly announced on February 26th, that four juvenile arrests have resulted in pleas and criminal convictions.

Kairo Kelliebrew pled guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second-Degree PL 265.03(3) for his role in a shots-fired incident that took place on May 15, 2024. On that date, Kelliebrew fired two shots from a handgun at other individuals in the area of River Street and Glen Avenue in Troy. Kelliebrew was sentenced on February 14, 2025, to 3 ½ years of incarceration followed by 5 years of post-release supervision. Kelliebrew, who was 17-years-old at the time of the crime, was denied youthful offender status. Assistant District Attorney Antonia Lane prosecuted Kelliebrew.

Rensselaer County Emergency Medical Services In Crises

Rensselaer County Emergency Medical Services is facing a crisis, as highlighted in a presentation by Warren Hayashi, MD, NRP, CCEMTP from Albany Med Health Systems at the Poestenkill Fire Department on February 20th. Dr. Hayashi emphasized that the views expressed in the presentation were solely his own and did not represent the positions of Rensselaer County Bureau of Public Safety, Albany Med Health System, or the Town of Colonie. Through comprehensive data and analysis, Dr. Hayashi has shed light on the collapsed emergency medical services (EMS) system in Rensselaer County.

Sue A. Hickey — Obituary

Hoosick Falls — Sue A. Hickey, 77, passed away on Monday, February 17th, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late John “Ersel” Hickey who passed in 2013.

Sue was born on January 8, 1948, in Cambridge, NY, daughter of the late Robert and Dolores (Nimmons) Harrington. She graduated from Hoosick Falls High School and was employed at Oak Industries in Hoosick Falls. Sue was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, where she was part of the “cleaning committee.” She enjoyed going to her class reunions, working around her house, gardening, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Beatrice (King) Theriault — Obituary

Beatrice (King) Theriault passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025 at Loomis Lakeside Nursing Center in Springfield, MA.

She was born on June 11, 1925, in Willimantic, CT, the only child of Bernice and Leslie King. As a young girl, Beatrice moved with her parents to Morris, CT, where her dad tried his hand at dairy farming. Later the family moved to Wolcott, CT, where Beatrice met her future husband Raymond Rodney Theriault.
