Rensselaer County District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly recently announced that Robert Fisher, 34, of Rensselaer has been sentenced to 20 years to life in state prison for his guilty plea to Murder in the 2nd Degree, a class A-I Felony, and Rape in the 1st Degree, a class B violent Felony.

Rensselaer County, the City of Troy, and the Town of Bethlehem are partnering on an inter-county Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) disposal program for 2024. The program consists of four events providing residents of the participating municipalities the opportunity to safely dispose of hazardous materials not accepted through normal garbage collection service.

Literacy Volunteers of Rensselaer County (LVORC) has been awarded $10,000 by The McCarthy Charities, Inc., a private foundation based in Troy. The grant will help LVORC with operating expenses and enable LVORC’s professional staff in Troy to administer literacy programs and services that are offered at no cost to adult learners in Rensselaer County.

Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Event

Rensselaer County, the City of Troy, and the Town of Bethlehem are partnering on an inter-county Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) disposal program for 2024. The program consists of four events providing residents of the participating municipalities the opportunity to safely dispose of hazardous materials not accepted through normal garbage collection service.
The next event will be Saturday, September 14th at the Town of Brunswick Town Hall, 336 Town Office Road. Entrance to the event will be on Town Office Road.
