Petersburgh Town Board Highlights

July 26, 2023 By Eastwick Press

by Denise Wright
The July 17th meeting of the Petersburgh town board had various topics to discuss, from purchasing a new highway truck to bridge capstones. After approval of the June 19th minutes, the building department reported a new high of six permits in the town for the month. Councilman Heinz Noeding described this as increased activity in town.

The Highway Department reported that they have been cleaning out shoulders and culverts after the numerous storms in the area. A quote for a channel on Canfield Road was reviewed. While the price of $46,000 for the culvert seemed expensive, it is the most efficient way to fix the problem. The town will be investigating how to begin this process. Purchasing an excavator was discussed, but the hope is to get this through a state contract, however, with price changes, the board is looking at other ways to move forward with this purchase.

Petersburgh Town Board Highlights

June 28, 2023 By Eastwick Press

by Denise Wright
The town board meeting on June 19th was busy and informative for residents concerning phase 2 of the bridge project in the town. The Department of Transportation presenter wanted to thank residents for their patience with the project. Multiple signs will be up to make drivers aware and alleviate any traffic situations. There was some concern about trucks getting onto some of the roads; there is a plan to put weight limit signs near River and Hewitt Roads to ensure safety for residents and motorists. The ditch building near the bridge is targeted for the end of July.

Petersburgh Town Board Highlights

May 24, 2023 By Eastwick Press

by Denise Wright
The May 15th Petersburgh Town Board meeting was brief but quite informative.

The first item discussed was the bridge/culvert project. According to town board member Heinz Noeding, the project is going as planned, and the hope is to finish it by mid-June. While there has been some need for adjustments to the traffic flow near the project, it was reported that a 3-way stop sign was not approved, but DOT will do some lane widening near the post office to assist with the traffic pattern.

The town supervisor reported that the $151,000 in ARPA funds was reported for the 2022-2023 fiscal year. The fire district, parking lot repaving, and historian records were part of the approximate $55,000 part of the final submission to the state. The roof, the water district water diffuser, and parks will also be using some of the funds. There is approximately $20,000 left of the funds that need to be allocated.

Among the several different replies received, Wanda Webster’s reply stood out as having actual photos of the house in various years in her family photo album. With a little further research with help from our Town Historian, we were able to positively identify the mystery house as the one on Armsby Road in Petersburgh,

Petersburgh Town Board Highlights

April 28, 2023 By Eastwick Press

By Denise Wright
The town board meeting in Petersburgh on April 17th provided a great deal of information to residents about summer activities in the town that could impact traffic, and information for local groups to take advantage of.

The Department of Transportation's first presentation discussed replacing the stone arch bridge at the Route 22/2 intersection. This bridge overpass opened in 1932, and due to the age and material of the bridge, it will not come out in sections; it must be removed all at once. This approach allows for a quicker process of constructing the new bridge.
