Roberta Ann Breese (Shaw), 86, passed away at home with her daughters by her side on July 20th, 2023. She was born on March 10th, 1937, in Hoosick Falls, NY. Roberta worked at several local businesses throughout her lifetime, but her most enjoyable love was being a teachers’ aid at Hoosick Falls Central School. She found great fulfillment in caring for and guiding young minds. Roberta was a member of Saint Luke’s in Cambridge, NY, and she and Bob spent many hours volunteering at Christ the King in Greenwich, NY. She found solace and strength in her faith. Richard T. Smith – Obituary
Richard Tilden Smith passed away June 23rd, 2023 after an extended illness. He was born February 9th, 1937 in New York City. He was predeceased by his parents Glady and Harold Smith, and brothers Thomas and Peter. Richard is survived by his wife Milli Smith, daughter Denise (Thomas), son Jeffrey (Tricia), and 3 grandchildren Daniel, Emma, and Jack.
He was active in the Naval Reserve, graduating from Adelphi University and was activated by the Navy serving on the U.S.S. Harris during the Cuban Crisis. Afterwards, he worked for Philips Medical North America supervising the installation of medical x-ray equipment in hospitals across Upstate NY. The family moved to Stephentown in 1989. Charlotte M. Humphrey – Obituary
Hoosick – Charlotte May Humphrey, 77, passed away on July 16th, 2023, after a long illness, and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loved ones. She resided on Babcock Lake Road with her husband of fifty-eight years Floyd (Dick) Humphrey.
Charlotte was the eldest daughter of Harold and Jeanette (Lewis) Stevens. She was born on September 1st, 1945, in Hoosick Falls, NY. Charlotte retired from the Hoosick Falls Central School as a special ed teacher assistant after twenty-four years. She was an active member of the Pittstown Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and enjoyed helping others. Stephentown – Myron Wesley Adams, Jr. “Junie” passed away on June 5th, 2023 after a battle with cancer. He was born May 15th, 1950 and was the son of the late Wesley and Marion (Thomas) Adams of Cherry Plain, NY.
Wesley grew up on the family farm and took great pride in the house his father built for him there, which was lost to a fire in February. Delmar – Fred Ernest Horton Jr. passed suddenly from this life on May 22nd, 2023.
Born in Troy June 15th, 1943 to the late Fred Ernest Horton Sr. and Peggy (Stewart), he was a resident of Delmar and a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Brent Tipple – Obituary
Hoosick Falls – Brent Tipple died peacefully at Albany Medical Center on May 17th, 2023, at the age of 61. His beloved wife Lisa was holding his hand.
He was born in Troy, NY on October 11th, 1961, to Harold Zwinge and Janis Hakes of Berlin, NY. Years later Janis married Nicolas Tipple of Ghent NY, who adopted Brent and brother Brian as his sons. Brent graduated from Taconic Hills School in 1979. After he went to college in Memphis TN, Brent moved to Norway, Maine where he met his bride to be, Lisa (Curtis) Tipple, the daughter of Dan and Linda Curtis of Oxford Maine. They moved back to NY where Brent skillfully worked at Tipple Logging & Lumber as a NHLA Lumber Inspector and was able to export timber as far as Japan and China. Kevin L. Seifridsberger – Obituary
Berlin – Kevin L. Seifridsberger 60, of Rte. 22 Cherry Plain, died on Friday, June 2nd, 2023 at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy, under the care of hospice. Kevin was surrounded by his family and had been battling a long illness. Born in Cohoes, Kevin was the son of the late Gerald J. and Henrietta M. Smyth Seifridsberger and the beloved husband of Edith Gonyea Seifridsberger. Kevin grew up in the “Alps” in the Town of Nassau and was a graduate of the Liberty Christian Academy in 1982. Kevin entered the Navy in 1983 and served on submarines before his discharge in 1987. After the Navy, Kevin worked for Johnson Controls in Albany, then worked in the factory at Taconic Plastics, and lastly was a driver for Earl T. John H. Kanopka – Obituary
Berlin – John Henry “Jack” Kanopka passed away in the comfort of his home on Sunday, May 28th, 2023. Born in Pittsfield on June 6th, 1949, he was the son of the late Casimir and Dorothy (Chittenden) Kanopka.
Jack grew up in Berlin and graduated from Berlin High School. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. Back home, he worked for the New York State Department of Transportation for 35 years until his retirement in 2002. Jack volunteered much of his time to local fire departments, beginning in Stephentown from 1972 to 1975, and then for Berlin for 33 years where he served as Chief.
