Nightmare on Elm Street

Nightmare on Elm Street returns to the Hoosick Armory on Saturday, October 26th. Come for an evening of masquerade, music, and food with a Halloween theme. Doors open at 6:30 pm. The popular band West Side Drive takes the stage at 7 pm. A lucky draw auction and a costume contest will also be held (costumes aren’t required but are encouraged).

National Recognition for Special Olympics

Special Olympics New York has announced that Hoosick Falls Central School (HFCS) is 1 of 13 New York schools receiving National Banner Recognition for their Special Olympics Unified Champion School® programming. This distinguished status is a result of HFCS meeting 10 national standards of excellence in the areas of inclusion, advocacy, and respect, while providing inclusive sports and activities for students with and without intellectual disabilities. These standards were developed by a national panel of leaders from the Special Olympics and the education community.

Hoosick Falls Blood Drive

The American Red Cross will be having a blood drive on Tuesday, October 1st at the First Baptist Church in Hoosick Falls. The hours are from 1 pm until 6 pm. Donors are needed daily. Please donate by calling the Red Cross 1-800-REDCROSS or visiting the website redcrossblood.org and use the sponsor keyword  HOOSICK FALLS. Accidents and illness are the reasons to have a supply on hand. Please consider giving the gift of blood. New donors should come as well as regular donors. We thank you!

HACA Food Pantry & HFCS Weekend BackPack Program

As the school year begins, so does another successful Weekend BackPack year. The BackPack Program helps alleviate child hunger by discreetly providing hungry children with bags of nutritious and easy-to-prepare food every Friday afternoon, so they have food to eat throughout the weekend. Although free and reduced breakfast and lunch programs provide significant nutritional benefits to students during the school day, many disadvantaged children do not have access to regular meals when school is not in session.

Dog Attack

On Wednesday, September 11th, Hoosick Falls Police were dispatched to Fourth Street in the Village of Hoosick Falls for a dog bite. Upon investigation it was found that a 2-year-old had been attacked by four Rottweilers. The child was rendered care by the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad and a Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad Paramedic and was transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment. Hoosick Falls Armory Upcoming Events

Did you know that September is Healthy Aging Month? What better way to improve your health through exercise. The Hoosick Armory has 3 pickleball courts that can be rented for private play, family get-togethers, or office team events. Another option is to join the Pickleball Club, which is a great way to learn if you are a beginner and a wonderful opportunity to meet new friends. The Club plays just about every day and you can drop in at any time to learn more or visit the Armory website for more information at hoosickarmory.org/pickleball.

William S. Snyder – Obituary

Grafton – William S. “Will” Snyder, 37, was taken away from us way too early from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on August 29th, 2024.

William was born November 22nd, 1986 to Rebecca (Burdick) Greene and Richard Snyder. William graduated from Berlin Central School in 2006. William started his working days at Seagroatt’s in Berlin and then at Berlin True Value and later at Mapledale Farms. Currently he continued his love for farming and enjoyed trucking at Wagner Farms part-time. Walter A. Wood Tractor Show Returns

Each year, community members are selected for honors as we kick off the event at 10 am. This year, Tri State Credit Union will be recognized for their continued commitment to the Karen and Molly McGovern Fund. Additionally, we will honor a remarkable one-year-old, Willow Grace Pellerin, along with her brother Colton and parents Matthew and Cala. Together, they embody the wonderful traits exemplified by Karen McGovern as she courageously fought her battle against cancer.
