County Introduces Drug Dealer Registry

In a concerted effort to enhance community safety and tackle the persistent challenge of drug-related offenses, the Rensselaer County Legislature, in collaboration with District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly and support from County Executive Steve McLaughlin, has announced the establishment of the Rensselaer County Drug Dealer Registry. This pioneering initiative is designed to track individuals convicted of drug sale crimes within the county.

The newly enacted local law, Section 4, establishes a comprehensive registry containing the names and residence information of individuals convicted of drug sale crimes.

McLaughlin Delivers State of the County Address

Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin delivered an optimistic and energetic State of the County address to the Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, January 11th, saying achievements in the county are historic and transformative.

McLaughlin said the county is becoming known across the state as a leader in reducing property taxes, while service improvements and facility upgrades are ushering in a higher level of service by county government.

Honoring a Local Hero: James F. Plog Sr.

Rensselaer County has vowed to never forget the service and sacrifice of our veterans and their families. On Monday, January 8th, veterans, residents, friends, and family joined with elected officials to recognize the life and service of James F. Plog Sr.

James served with the Marine Corps, enlisting on D-Day, June 6th, 1944, and served in the Pacific during the closing months of World War II. He also participated in the occupation of Japan following the end of the war.

Sheriff Russo Honored with Walkout Ceremony

On December 28th, hundreds of people gathered at the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office to celebrate Sheriff Patrick A. Russo after a 48-year career in law enforcement. Sheriff Russo had his walkout ceremony surrounded by family, friends, deputies, administrators, government officials, and others who wished to see him off to retirement.
