Diana J. Gates – Obituary

Berlin – Diana (Jones) Gates, 75, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 surrounded by her family at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.

Born in Petersburgh on May 31, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Robert “Skeet” Lansing Jones. She was raised in Hoosick Falls and lived there until she moved to Berlin in the early 70’s with her husband Chris where they made their home for the next 56 years.  [Read more…] about Diana J. Tuulia J. Fuller and Brian D. Fuller – Obituaries

Berlin – Tuulia J. Fuller, 86, a resident of Berlin, NY, passed away November 20, 2021 at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation. Her husband of 63 years, Brian D. Fuller, 83, passed away November 28, 2021, also at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation. Tuulia was born in Tampere, Finland on July 16, 1935, the daughter of the late Kustaa Jokinen and Ida Koivikko. Brian was born in Murray, Utah on October 25, 1938, the son of Conrad A. Fuller and Burnice Neilson.

Major Representative Changes in the Offing

When it comes to who represents Rensselaer County in Congress, the State Senate and to a degree the State Assembly, the winds of change are howling. And naturally, there is a lot of howling about that. On Sunday, the Democratically controlled State Legislature unveiled their redistricting maps, after the commission tasked with the redistricting was unable to come up with one set of maps. They had presented two maps to the State lawmakers, one favoring Democrats and the other favoring Republicans. What the Legislature finally came up with has the GOP screaming gerrymandering at the top of their lungs. Here are some of the changes.

The vast majority of the County is currently represented by Democrat Antonio Delgado, with Democrat Paul Tonko’s district including the Cities of Troy and Rensselaer. Under the new district set up,

Schodack Town Council Highlights

After the public hearing on the Greendale Solar Farm located on County Route 32, the January 27 Schodack Town Council meeting passed a few resolutions. Several other topics were also discussed that ranged from personnel contracts to the Town parks.

Woelfersheim Pleas to Multiple Crimes

High School Bowling – Wasaren League Tournament

Hoosick Falls Wins Bowling Tournament

On Tuesday the teams of the Wasaren League gathered at Saratoga Strike Zone for this year’s Wasaren League Tournament. Berlin-New Lebanon, Hoosick Falls, Hoosic Valley, Mechanicville, Saratoga Catholic, Stillwater and Waterford-Halfmoon all sent teams of seven bowlers. 

During the morning block of three games, Hoosick Falls 3276, Mechanicville 2906 and Stillwater 2860 had separated from the rest of the field. In the afternoon, Hoosick Falls was able to add to their lead,

Congresswoman Elise Stefanik’s District has Grown

Under new redistricting maps released today the towns of Hoosick, Pittstown, Schaghticoke, Grafton, Petersburgh, Brunswick and Poestenkill will move to Rep. Elise Stefanik’s district. The rest of the county will be represented by Congressman Antonio Delgado except the City of Troy which remains with Rep. Paul Tonko.
