Village Reaches New $255K Agreement For PFOA Expenses

Village of Hoosick Falls Press Release

The interim agreement with Saint Gobain and Honeywell, approved by the Village Board at a special meeting Wednesday, June 19, includes $185,000 for past costs the Village took on as a result of the PFOA contamination, and $70,000 in anticipated costs related to the operation and maintenance of the GAC filtration system for the current fiscal year.

SMA Students Ring Bell For Last Time

“Zombie Property” Law Approved In Brunswick

After months of conversation, the Brunswick Town Board approved Local Law #3 during its monthly meeting on Thursday, May 13.  It establishes a registry for vacant buildings, sometimes referred to as zombie properties. Currently there are 32 vacant properties within the town.

Berlin Sports Thrown Out Of The WASAREN League

Berlin Central Schools Superintendent Dr. Stephen Young read a letter from the league president at the Tuesday, June 18 School Board meeting, saying that by a vote of 8-2, the superintendents of the league’s member schools had decided to remove Berlin as a league member, effectively immediately.

Petersburgh Water District Superintendent Ben Krahforst Resigns

The biggest piece of news to come out of the June 17 meeting of the Petersburgh Town Board was not on the agenda and was not mentioned during the regular meeting, but became a rather heated topic of conversation during the public comment session at the end of the meeting.
