Local Preschoolers Read To Help Haiti
After the tragedy in Haiti, a few Berlin and Stephentown preschoolers decided to make a difference. Elsie Corbett, Huck Gail and Sasha Altschule took part in a reading program sponsored by the American Red Cross. For every book read, they would receive a small donation. Proving you can never be too little to help, each child was involved in reading about eighty books. Remarkably, in just a few weeks, they generated nearly $900 for the American Red Cross. On April 22 representatives of the Red Cross came to the Stephentown Memorial Library to commend the kids for their generous efforts.
