A Hoosick Falls woman and her grandson were critically injured Sunday afternoon, May 25, when they were struck by a car while attempting to cross NY Route 7 near the intersecion with Hill Road.

Duncan’s Dairy Bar Celebrates 80 Years

Opened in the spring of 1939 by John Duncan and his wife Ruth, the venerable Brunswick eatery started out as ice cream parlor, with the Duncan’s expanding their dining room sometime in the 1950’s to serve breakfast and lunch.  Their grandson, John Squadrito, who now owns the establishment, has since expanded the menu and offers dinner most night as well.

Lousewort or Wood Betony (Pedicularis canadensis) grows on the forest edge and is blooming now in upper Petersburgh.

Hoosick Falls was scheduled to face Chatham on Wednesday, May 29, after the Eastwick Press deadline. Chatham, the number one Class C seed, scored 38 runs in its first two sectional contests, 19 in each game.

At its May 21 meeting, The Hoosick Falls School Board accepted the resignation of Assistant High School Principal and former High School Principal Stacy Vadney, effective at the end of this school year. Vadney has taken a job in the Shenendehowa School District, which will be a much shorter commute for her.
