Hoosick Falls Golfer Leads Pack At State Qualifier

Junior Mat Smith shot a tournament leading three under par 68 on Tuesday, October 15, while also notching his first ever hole in one, at the Orchard Creek Golf Club in Altamont.

Walter B. Howard Elementary was honored to host Eric Litwin, best-selling author of the original four Pete the Cat books, The Nuts and Groovy Joe.

On October 9, the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office arrested Leo M. Surdam III, age 63, of Hoosick, for three counts of Forcible Touching, a class A misdemeanor, and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor.

What started in California’s Hawthorne Police Department as an idea to bring together the community over casual coffee conversations has now turned into Coffee With A Cop, a worldwide initiative with hundreds of events each year.
