ARPA Funds July Meetings in Poestenkill

August 4, 2022 By Eastwick Press

The ARPA listening team of Poestenkill recently held the second in a series of public meetings to solicit further project suggestions from residents. The ARPA team gave a brief overview of the federal funding and the Board’s desire to use the funds for projects that Poestenkill could not otherwise afford and that would have long-term, lasting impact.

The ideas discussed will be added to the March suggestions and will be considered for feasibility, cost, and merit. There will be future discussions by the Board to review those suggestions and decide how to allocate the funds. Attendees at both the March and July public listening sessions expressed their appreciation for the Town’s outreach efforts, the openness of the discussions, and the mutual respect and appreciation of all the participants.

Submitted by CCSD
This year, students attending Cambridge Central School (CCS) Summer Field School in Historical Archaeology spent time investigating a local site in White Creek known as the Van Corlaer Trading Post. Students participating in the program learned skills in archaeological field work, which included surveying, map making, excavation techniques, artifact identification, and historic preservation. The Trading Post is believed to have been built by Arendt Van Corlaer, a Dutch fur trader between 1709 and 1711 for a local Native American Sachem known as Soquon, “The Owl King.”

Written by Corey Brown, Courtesy of NLCSD

Hello New Lebanon Students and Families,

My name is Corey Brown, and I am very excited to introduce myself as the new Athletic Director and Assistant Principal of New Lebanon Central School District. I am honored that I was chosen to help lead such an outstanding district and school community. I have heard nothing but positive things about the students, athletes, families, and the surrounding community. Everyone that I have had the pleasure of speaking with has already made me feel like I am part of the New Lebanon Family.

I come to you with 10 years of experience as an educator and leader in rural, urban and suburban settings ranging from the elementary, middle and high school levels. I grew up in Upstate New York before leaving to attend college out of state. I couldn’t be happier to return to New York and make this my home once again. I am a former athlete, coach, and teacher who truly cares about supporting each student’s quest to reach their full potential.
