Geralyn M. Schmidt – Obituary

April 19, 2024 By Eastwick Press

Troy – Geralyn M. Schmidt, 65, of 114th St. passed away on Sunday February 25th, 2024 at Albany Medical Center after a short illness.

Born in Pittsfield, MA, on November 1st, 1958. Geralyn was the daughter of the late Freddie and Loretta Beuhler Schmidt, who owned and operated the Wayside Inn in West Lebanon for many years.

Raised in West Lebanon, Geralyn was a graduate of New Lebanon High School. She worked for many years as a nurse’s aide and a home health aide before becoming an assistant manager of both Cumberland Farms in Castleton, and then the Hess station in New Lebanon.

Geralyn greatly loved animals and had many throughout her lifetime. Extra special places in her heart were her horse Kissle, dogs Penny and Cole, and her rooster BamBam.

Geralyn was predeceased by her loving companion James Montamerano.

Geralyn was a very loving, caring and generous person. She would give you the shirt off her back even if she didn’t have another one for herself. Her friendly smile and sweet disposition will be missed by all.

Geralyn leaves behind her loving cousins Linda, Carolyn, and Marcia along with her friends of many years Tammy, Sherry, Debbie, and Joan.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 20th, 2024 at noon, at the Life in Christ Fellowship church, 5 North Nassau Rd., Averill Park, NY 12018. Refreshments to follow.
