The Hoosick Falls Drama Club is presenting Rodgers and Hammerstein’s version of Cinderella on Friday, April 28, Saturday, April 29, and Sunday, April 30. [private]On Friday and Saturday, the curtain rises at 7 pm, and Sunday is a matinee performance that starts at 2 pm.
This well-known “rags to riches” folk tale centers around Cinderella, a poor girl who unexpectedly ends up in the arms of a prince. Cinderella is played by senior Jamie Danner, and the Prince is played by senior Alex DiDonato.
Co-director Gwen Phippen said, “I am thrilled to put on Cinderella. It has been a wonderful experience because the kids work so hard and I’m very proud of them.”
For Phippen, Cinderella has always been one of her favorite musicals. She said, “I watched it when I was a young child, and it inspired me to get into theater. I saw this play and said to myself wow – that looks fun!”
Jamie Danner (Cinderella) said, “I’m very excited because I think it is safe to say that being a princess has been a goal of mine.” She added, “I’m honored for this to be my last show at HFCS.”
Junior Sierra Funck (the Queen) said “I like playing the Queen because she’s nice at times and sassy at others. It’s a fun acting challenge because I get to work on a range of acting skills.”
Admission is free, and everyone in the community is invited to come and enjoy this family classic. Phippen said, “I’m excited to share this show with the community, and I hope a lot of people come!” [/private]
