Driving through Stephentown, with its closed stores and the empty school, one might get the feeling that not all that much is happening there. But like many small towns in upstate NY, there is actually quite a bit of talent hidden away, it’s just a matter of finding it.
The Stephentown Historical Society has been doing just that.

Last April the Historical Society showcased the talents of the women of Stephentown and this April that showcasing continued with the Town’s talented men.
The Heritage Center on Garfield Road was certainly the most happening place in Stephentown this past weekend as Bob Adler, Anthony Beverly, Bill Haight John Allen Hoffman, William Jackson Neil Krebs, Bob Mittnight, Ed Mullet, Cliff Myers, Steve Pentak and Bob Tibbetts exhibited some of their finest work.
And what work that that is. From antique cars and trucks to model tanks, wooden boats, pens and boxes, and so much in between including the masterful Shaker reproductions of Mullet, the immersive paintings of Pentak and the complete artistry of Beverly’s furniture designs. Stephentown really has immense talent for such a small town.
And perhaps best of all the Town didn’t feel at all like a town with not much happening as neighbors and strangers turned out together on a beautiful Spring day to see what there was to see. It was a town alive, and according to organizer Bev McClave, attendance was counted at 110, two more at than last year’s women’s showcase.[/private]
