Wednesday, May 10, 1837: This morning I sent for E. Pierce and James Glass and Rowland Danford and Platt Wylie and they came to help me up with my lame cow. Glass raised the cow alone by lifting a little when the cow tried to get up. This afternoon sister Twichel and her daughter Genett Hazen and her son Jerome came from Cincinnati.
[private]Monday, May 22: This forenoon we planted our corn. Old Mr. Nathaniel Warren and myself and my son Geo P. covered, and my son John F and daughters Angeline and Sarah dropped corn.
Saturday, May 27: Today Mr. Holister moved into my Rodgers house. Tonight brother F. Jay Wylie and wife came and stayed with us from Pittsfield and fetched sister Twichel and son Jerome and daughter Genet Hazen and child and servant, colored girl, and stayed with us.
Saturday, June 3: This forenoon I went on to my Rodgers Farm and hunted a cow that had gone into the woods and had a calf.
Wednesday, June 7: This forenoon I worked on the highway with my horse team and plow and had one day and a half credited by the pathmaster Calvin Sackett.
Thursday: I worked on the highway with my team and plow and had three days works credited to my account
Friday: Today I found my last cow that had calfed that was on my Rodgers farm.
Saturday: This morning I bought and fetched home four pigs at one dollar per head of Platt Wylie, and he agreed to wait until Fall for his pay.
Friday, June 16: Tonight a man stayed to my house by the name of Kites. He was recommended to me by Chancy Row and he wanted a house to hire for his family.
Saturday: This morning I took my wagon and mr. Kites rode over to my Rodgers farm to look at my house. He said the house and situation suited and I told him my price for rent was one month work in haying and the time to be out for the house the first April next. He told me he would return home to his family and if they concluded to move, he would write a letter for me to move him.
Thursday, June 22: Tonight our school Miss Freelove Pierce stayed with us and her sister was here on a visit.
Friday: My boys rode up to the Post Office and took out a letter for me from Mr. Daniel Kites. He writes to have me come and move his family into my house. The price of the postage on his letter was ten cents
Saturday: Today I went with my double team to move Mr. Daniel Kites. Said Kites lives in Saratoga County in the town of Morow. This afternoon about five o’clock I got to Hoosick Falls and tonight I stayed to David Barnhart the father of brother Wm Holcomb.[/private]
