Sylvester’s Wife Has An Episode

October 29, 2015 By eastwickpress

Monday, June 13: Today I went to Lebanon with my covered wagon and carried Mother Holcomb to brother Samuel Beers’ on a visit and left her. My daughter Angeline and my two sons went with me and I carried a grist of rye and got ground to Bown’s Mill. This day I am 45 years of age.

[private]Sunday, June 19: Today brother Beers came and fetched Mother Holcomb home and he fetched his wife and made us a short visit and returned home tonight.

Wednesday: I hoed potatoes and some corn. I paid my school bill to Andrew Clark 4 dol 98 cts.

Thursday: Today my wife drove the single wagon and carried Mother over to brother Sylvester’s for his wife is quite unwell. Today Doctor Right bled Mother Holcomb when she was to brother Sylvester’s and she hurt her shoulder when she went to step into the wagon.

Saturday: I hoed and Asa Sheldon helped hoe corn and I credit to him on old accounts. Today I and my wife and other neighbors went to hunt for brother Sylvester’s wife, she was crazy, they have found her to one of the neighbors. I went with my wagon and fetched her home and I returned home and did my chores and returned back to brother Sylvester’s and stayed all night. We both slept to Mr. Amos Chapman’s, sister Betsey continues crazy.

Friday, July 1: Today Fanna Roberts rode home one of my young horses on a visit. I borrowed Mr. Zach Chapman’s side saddle for Fanna to ride home. Today Mr. Danford took down his old house and some of the timber fell and hurt Mr. John Sackett and he had the Doctor and was bled.

Monday, July 4: Today quite rainy. I cleared out the celler and cider house.

Thursday: Today brother Sylvester came to begin his job shingling over my house. He only started the shingles from the stoop roof.

Friday: Today I cut and drew a chestnut log for a sill to our stoop and brother Sylvester worked at our stoop.

Sylvester worked about five days rebuilding George’s stoop, for which he was paid a bushel of corn and two dollars cash.[/private]
