A group of enthusiastic supporters gathered at the First Baptist Church in Hoosick Falls on Sunday afternoon, March 22 to hear a review of the Hoosick Area Church Association (HACA) events held in 2014, to welcome the new Board Officers, and to hear about some new exciting plans for 2015.
[private]Special thanks were offered to the more than 60 volunteers who gave regularly of their time and abilities in the past year to assure things ran smoothly. Young people are very important to the future of HACA. For example, Boy Scout Reid Crobok was recognized for his Eagle Scout project, a concert, food, and fund drive in Wood Park, and the assistance of Crobok and members of his Troop at the HACA Center. A Gold Award project by Girl Scout Sarah Sigot, the Weekend Back Pack Program, has been finalized and will begin in mid April. The program is an effort of cooperation involving public schools and other community partners to provide chronically hungry children with additional nutritional support by supplying a weekend’s worth of food each Friday. Further information will be forthcoming shortly.
Early Journal
The highlight of the afternoon was the display of a journal received recently by Pastor Mike Benoit detailing meetings of the Hoosick Christian Endeavor Union, an early forerunner of HACA. The first entry in the journal was from Tuesday, June 25, 1895. The Constitution in the journal was not dated. The journal will be presented to the Historical Society in the near future.
Officers
Officers elected for 2015 were President Joyce Brewer, Vice-President Ron Bovie, Secretary Greg Fox and Treasurer Bob Lang. Dianne Hosterman remains as HACA Executive Director. [/private]
