On Thursday, July 31, at 6:30 pm Columbia County author Julia Pomeroy will conduct a multimedia travelogue on her recent trip to Antarctica. The program will be followed by Q&A and light refreshments.
Pomeroy was born in Okinawa and spent her childhood in Africa, where she went to Italian missionary schools. Her family moved to Rome, Italy, when she was 11. At nineteen, she moved to the States, first to Cambridge, MA, then Washington, DC. She and her family have lived in Columbia County since 1990. They owned the Blue Plate Restaurant in Chatham, which was the inspiration for Julia’s mysteries, The Dark End Of Town (Carroll & Graf 2006) and Cold Moon Home (Carroll & Graf 2007).
The public is welcome to this event. The Library, at 550 State Route 20, is located ¼ mile north of the yellow blinking light at the intersection of Routes 20/22.
