The Hoosick Falls Panthers didn’t shoot well against Greenwich last Friday evening. Andrew Hoag made a three-pointer when the game was almost over, the first Panther three-pointer of the game. If it wasn’t for their defense, they probably would have lost. It wasn’t pretty but, in the end, they played just good enough to win.
Starting out flat from the get go, the Panthers scored 10 in each of the first two quarters. The defense, which has been very strong over the last several games, held the Witches to 15, including allowing only four points in the second quarter.
The Witches outscored the Panthers in each of the last two quarters and stayed within five throughout the second half. The Panthers never pulled away, and the Witches were nipping at their heels right up until the final buzzer. It is a good thing when a team plays poorly and still wins the game. Austin Pitt had 13, and Andrew Hoag added 12.
This week the Panthers face Cambridge on Friday, January 31, in the HFCS gym. On Tuesday, February 4, the Panthers travel to Stillwater to take on the Warriors. Both games are scheduled to begin after the JV game, which begins at 6 pm.
