Hoosick Falls – Judith “Judy” Bulson of 56 Wilder Avenue, Hoosick Falls, NY, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT, following a long illness. Born in Hoosick Falls on July 24, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Alma (Loverre) Bulson. As a young girl she loved hanging out at her father’s business, Bulson Brothers Chevrolet, and she worked there for a while as a young adult.
Judy graduated from St. Mary’s Academy, Class of ‘62, and Albany Business College. After working at the Emma Willard School in Troy, NY, and the Wood Flong in Hoosick Falls, in office jobs, she decided on a change of career and got a job driving a school bus for the Hoosick Falls Central School District, which she continued to do for thirty-seven years until retirement. She also worked part time at St. John’s the Baptist Church in North Bennington, VT, in general maintenance.
A self taught carpenter, builder, painter, plumber and DIY expert, Judy could do anything she could learn from her “how to” books. She was also a self taught artist who exhibited paintings at art shows in the 60s, and she restored the life-sized crucifix for the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls in the early 70s.
Judy was passionate about animals, from her birds, hamsters and horses to her dogs and, especially, her cats, both indoor and outdoor. She believed that all animals deserved a helping hand when they needed it. Many special four-legged friends must have met her when she crossed, especially cats Kiker, Tuppy and Ecpie.
Judy is survived by her brother, James Bulson and wife Rita, her two nephews, Ken and Matt Bulson, and her life-long friend, Judy Stewart and her family with whom she resided, all of Hoosick Falls.
According to her wishes, there will be no calling hours or service. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date. Memorial contributions in Judy’s memory may be made to any animal shelter or to Alley Cat Allies in honor of her deep love of animals.
