Local Care Midwifery PLLC and BirthNet New York will present the film Explore Your Options: Doulas, Birth Centers and C-Sections on Tuesday, February 28, at 6:30 pm at the New Lebanon Library. Discussion and Q&A by midwife Michelle Doyle will follow the screening.
This provocative and entertaining documentary is part of the More Business of Being Born film series produced by Ricki Lake and Abby Epstein, an exploration of the modern maternity care system. Explore Your Options offers birth planning guidance around key topics such as the role of doulas (labor support specialists) the advantages of birth centers and the alarming escalation of cesarean sections in the United States and Brazil.
Michelle Doyle lives in Troy. She has safely attended over 1,000 births and been present at thousands more. She serves on the Board for the New York State Association of Licensed Midwives, is the newly elected President of the PAC for the Midwifery Alliance of New York and is a member of both the Association of Certified Nurse Midwives and the Midwife Alliance of North America.
