Members of the Hoosick Falls Fire Department and the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad met with seven and eight year old kids from the Town of Hoosick Camp on Friday, July 8. This is the second gathering of young people to visit the Departments this year. The first visit was during the elementary school village walk.
The purpose of the emergency services program is to show the young people the various vehicles and equipment used by the Fire Department and the Rescue Squad. Both organizations frequently appear at residences in
emergency situations as “strangers” to the families and often wearing protective gear that can be frightening to the uninformed. Through this program kids will be less frightened should they be exposed to either organization during an emergency.
Ashley Bacon and Fran Parker and Deb Lohnes showed the kids the equipment in the ambulances used during an emergency. Both organizations will present this program twice more during the summer.
Citizens interested in joining the Hoosick Falls fire service should contact Robert Bornt, Chief. Those interested in the ambulance work should contact Deb Lohnes or Bill Gaillard.
