Community members have begun working on a mural project that will celebrate Hoosick Falls. The project is being led by Donna Maria deCreeft, a professional artist who has been teaching art since 1989. This project is made possible in part through Community Art$Grant, a program funded by the Arts Center of the Capital Region through the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency.
Workshops to develop the project are held on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8 pm and Saturdays from 10 to 11:30 am at the Hoosick Area Youth Center, 115 Church Street in Hoosick Falls. The sessions are open to anyone who would like to learn about art and mural construction. Attendance at all sessions is not required; participants are welcome to join at any time. Sessions will continue through mid-August.
Donna Maria deCreeft is currently the Artist in Residence for ArtsConnection in New York City and is summering at her vacation home in Hoosick Falls. Her father, Jose deCreeft, created “The Guardian” sculpture that resides currently in Wood Park.
