Most people you ask will tell you that they can’t comprehend how much a trillion dollars really is – too many zeros. There are 12 zeros.
Our national debt is over 14 trillion dollars and growing by nearly 2 billion every day. Our dollar is now worth only $.79 and decreasing.
The federal government is borrowing, printing and spending money like there is no tomorrow.
So, my curiosity got the best of me, and I sat down with my calculator and micrometer to figure out how high a stack of $100 bills it would take to equal 1 trillion dollars.

The Berlin July 4th Parade Committee cordially invites you to join us for the 2011 Independence Day Parade. The annual parade will be held on Monday, July 4, at 11 am. This year’s theme is “States on Parade.” Join in the fun and community spirit! Civic, school and church groups, businesses and individuals, both in and outside the community, are invited to participate. Whether you’re a big group or want to parade solo, it’s everyone’s celebration! It is not necessary to follow the theme; it is offered only as a guide. There is no entry fee, and prizes are awarded. Wood Park Bandstand Ready For Memorial Day Ceremonies

Repairs have been completed to the Bandstand in Wood Memorial Park. Last year a new floor was installed. In 2004 a new roof was put on and a cable system was installed to support the roof.
The Village of Hoosick Falls provided the funds for the roof and cable work. The Reynolds Foundation provided funds for the floor. Funds for the new steps and landing were provided by the Hoosick Falls Community Band. The third set of steps constructed on the building collapsed last season. The new steps and landing are of treated lumber, half of which was donated by Curtis Lumber in Hoosick.

Carner, Etman, Smith V.F.W. Post #6340 Memorial Day Service
The Carner, Etman, Smith V.F.W. Post #6340 will be holding a Memorial Day service at the Memorial monument in the Grafton Town Park on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, at 3 pm. The service will include the placing of wreaths at the monument honoring our veterans. All are invited to attend this service honoring the men and women who are serving and have served this country, many by giving their lives.
The Post will selling Buddy Poppies at the Brunswick Walmart from 10 am to 2 pm on Monday, May 30.

The grounds of the Stephentown Memorial Library became a lush garden Saturday, May 14, as visitors browsed among a great variety of plants and shrubs at the Shrub & Bake Sale. Hoosick Cemetery Memorial Ceremony
All are invited to gather at the Hoosick Rural Cemetery on Sunday, May 29, at 7 pm to honor the more than 100 veterans buried there. A brief ceremony will include a prayer and the playing of taps.
Llewellyn Palmer, BCS Salutatorian
Llewellyn Palmer was named Salutatorian of the Berlin High School Class of 2011.
Llewellyn is the son of Llewellyn and Sara Palmer of Berlin. During his time as a Berlin High School student, Llew has been on the Boys Varsity Cross Country, Basketball and Baseball teams and served as Co-Captain for Cross Country and Baseball this year. Rachel Gordon, was named Valedictorian of the Berlin High School Class of 2011.

On Friday I attended the Imagination Celebration at Berlin Elementary School. It was a wonderful, enjoyable and rewarding time and one of my favorite experiences since becoming the Interim Superintendent of Schools. Student work was displayed throughout the school.
