The grounds of the Stephentown Memorial Library became a lush garden Saturday, May 14, as visitors browsed among a great variety of plants and shrubs at the Shrub & Bake Sale. The shrubs and plants were donated by Alice and Burt Swersey of Shadowbrook Nursery in Stephentown. Library Director Laurenne Teachout said the sale, organized by the newly formed Friends of the Stephentown Library, was very successful, netting about $1,200 for the Library. She added that the Swerseys are closing down their business, so anyone looking for high quality, well tended and healthy plants or bushes can still purchase them at least through the end of this month at the Shadowbrook Nursery on Goodrich Hollow Road and it will still benefit the Library. Teachout said the Library wanted to give a big thanks to all who attended the sale, to those who baked, to the Friends and especially to the Swerseys.
