Dennis Flynn of Stage Road, Buskirk, will be guest speaker at the Hoosick Falls Memorial Day Celebration, following the annual parade on May 30. Flynn served as a staff sergeant in the US Army, Army Reserve and the Army National Guard.
Sergeant Flynn served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a helicopter crew chief with the 101st Airborne Division and in support of Army Special Forces. Flynn was also trained by Military Police CID in airborne stabilization equipment, as well as in nuclear biological and chemical warfare. While in Vietnam Sgt. Flynn was awarded eight individual decorations, including the Air Medal with the “V” device for valor, as well as four unit citations, including the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm.
Sergeant Flynn later served for several years in the Army Reserve and the Army National Guard in aviation, tank crew, NBC sergeant as well as a recruiter.
