Every so often a situation arises that allows us to see first hand the acts of selfless dedication that so many individuals in our communities and region make on a regular basis that have an impact on all our lives. The recent propane tanker fire in Hoosick is one such incident where we were all witness to an amazing outpouring of assistance from across the entire County and beyond to help ensure a positive outcome.

Letter To The Editor – Stay Where You Are
Dear Editor,
I recently read in the paper that the Hoosick Town Supervisor and the Town Board are asking for suggestions on where to move the Town offices in the event that they will no longer be able to lease space in the Armory from New York State.
My vote is to stay where they are. In most cases, if they close an Armory, the State will offer it to towns for a nominal fee, such as a $1. The Hoosick Falls Armory is a sound and useful Town structure. Within the past few years a new roof was put on and the interior was repainted.

To the editor,
Last year at this time, 3 weeks away from the BCSD budget vote, BOE election and Capital Improvement referendum vote, it was hard to predict what would happen on May 18th! When polls closed I was still awake and pleased to hear that the voters in the Berlin Central School District had sent a very important message. They elected 2 new BOE members that were offering ideas that could make the BCSD a much more dynamic place to educate children. They re-elected a BOE member who had been advocating for change throughout her entire first term. The voters said “NO” to the budget that opened the door to a building plan that was incomplete and would place a financial burden on the community. Easter Bunny Catches A Break
Hoosick Fire Department Captures Friday National Bowling League Championship
In A Roll Off The Hoosick Fire Department captured the championship in the Friday National League at the Barbecue Recreation this past Sunday with a win over Beck Farms in the roll-off. Beck Farms earned a chance at the title by defeating the Barbecue Recreation team in the first round of play by the total pinfall score of 2787 to 2713. The Hoosick Fire Department earned a bye in the first round by virtue of winning a third and having the best overall wins for the year. New Lebanon Jr./Sr. High School To Host A Memorial Day Assembly
On Friday, May 27, at 9 am, the New Lebanon Jr./Sr. High School will be hosting its first Memorial Day Assembly to honor our servicemen and women and all who gave their lives in defense of our country.
All veterans and current members of any branch of the military are invited to join the American Legion Post #1236 of New Lebanon and the Berkshire Chapter 65 Vietnam Veterans of America in the high school gymnasium as our honored guests. Family and community members are also welcome and encouraged to attend the festivities in memory of our fallen heroes and in celebration of those who serve.
Two Locals On TVHS Teams In Regional Envirothon
Two Tech Valley High School teams competed in the regional Envirothon competition on April 28.
Twelve students divided equally on the teams will head to the New York State Power Authority’s Visitor Center at Lansing Manor in Blenheim to compete against other schools from throughout the region.
If they win – as they have done in each of the last three years – they will advance to the state competition in June at Keuka College. The results were not known by press time.
