Local resident Doreen Forney will present a multimedia travelogue about her 2009 trip through Labrador and Newfoundland on Thursday, February 3, at 7 pm at the New Lebanon Library. The presentation will be followed by discussion and q & a.
Forney has been traveling to northern Canada for a number of years. The journey to Labrador and Newfoundland was aboard a small ship that cruised down the coast of Labrador, to the west coast of Newfoundland and on to the French island of St. Pierre, terminating in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her program will feature the Torngat Mountains of northern Labrador, a remote region of Canada where the Inuit believe the spirits reside. She will also have on hand detailed maps of the region, photos and examples of Inuit carvings.
