Volunteers made the difference in preparing for Thanksgiving at the HACA Food Pantry. Employees of St. Gobain filled the Pantry freezer with turkeys for the Thanksgiving boxes. Food Pantry volunteers unloaded and stocked over 6,000 pounds of food from the Regional Food Bank of NENY. Members of the HF Republican Committee and the Hoosick Rescue Squad assisted in assembling boxes on Thursday evening and returning on Friday evening to bag potatoes and fill and stack boxes. The potatoes were donated by Moses Vegetable Stand. Other volunteers will pick up pies and turkeys on Monday in time for distribution in the evening.
Leftovers will still be in refrigerators when preparations for the Christmas food and gift boxes start next week at Immaculate Conception Church. This annual event is a cooperative effort between HACA, HFCS, community businesses, organizations and individuals.
