Hoosick Falls American Legion Post 40 Commander Walter C. Zwinge wants to remind the community that Veterans Day is quickly approaching. At 11 am on Thursday, November 11, the Legion will present a short ceremony in Wood Park to honor all Veterans who have served and who have fought to keep America free. “Please show your patriotism by attending this event,” said Zwinge.
Legion Post 40, located at 150 Main St., will host an open house at 6 pm on the 11th. Any and all veterans and their spouses and all Legion Auxiliary members are invited. All Veterans who have served
during any war period are encouraged by the Commander to join the Post. Call him at 518-686-9887. The Legion meeting night is the third Tuesday of the month at 7 pm.
“I would personally like to thank all those who have donated towards making the new Veterans Memorial in our park a reality,” said Zwinge. “Thank you all again, and also a big hand to those on the Committee – Bob Becker, Jerry McAuliffe, Marilyn Douglas, Kate Bradley, Phil Leonard and Bea Peterson.” (Zwinge is a Committee member as well.)
