The Petersburgh Public Library continues the summer reading program with pre-school story hours on Tuesday mornings at 10. On August 3 join us for “Jungle Jabber” and learn all about the rain forest. August 10 features “Peppy Penguins,” when the penguin puppets will put in an appearance. The final story hour will be on August 17 when “Ice Cream Melt” will be the topic.
Children in kindergarten through sixth grade (younger children with a parent are welcome) are invited to our final drop-in crafts on Wednesdays. Stop by between 2:30 and 4:30 pm on August 4 to make a fish key ring and August 11 to make snow globes.
The celebration of our “Make a Splash – READ” summer reading program will take place on Wednesday, August 18 at 7 pm. Martha von Schilgen and Floyd Smith will provide music for everyone to enjoy including sing-along songs.
There will be prizes for all children and teens who have completed the reading requirements. Don’t forget to turn your forms in by Monday, August 16, or complete them online by the same day. The adults who have been busily reading to enter the raffles for prizes are invited to join us for the drawings for seven prize baskets which will take place. Our thanks to Lori Hamm, Lisa Roberts, Teresa DeWaal, MaryJo Laughlin, Kathy Share and Amy Shawver for donating the prizes for the program. There will be refreshments, and we will all celebrate a wonderful summer.
