May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month and SML invites you to learn more about this disease. On Friday, May 7, at 7 pm the film “Under Our Skin” which follows the stories of patients and physicians fighting for their lives and livelihoods will be shown. The film brings into focus a haunting picture of the health care system and a medical establishment all too willing to put profits ahead of patients.
After the film, we will learn about how to enjoy the outdoors while being cautious about ticks and other pests. Lisa Hoyt, Director of Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center, will share information on rabies, Lyme disease and West Nile virus. There will be ample time for discussion, and refreshments will be served.
