Get a glimpse of winter in Grafton in the early 20th century. An exhibit of photographs taken by Elmer Jacobs and James West from the collection of the Grafton Historical Society shows the beauty of the season. It features scenes of the Grafton Green/Town Park and scenes of children in the snow.
James West was a professional photographer whose works have been published in a book entitled Images of Grafton, Petersburgh and Berlin. He photographed many scenes in Grafton as well as beautiful photographs of his family. Elmer Jacobs was a self taught photographer who photographed hundreds of people and scenes throughout Grafton in the first quarter of the 20th Century. His works provides a comprehensive slice of life of the community during that era.
The exhibit at Grafton Town Hall was curated by Pat Niebuhr and Hilda Goyer. It is open during regular Town Hall hours Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
