Petersburgh – Emma Weaver Michaels, 82, of East Hollow Road, Petersburgh, NY, died on Tuesday morning, October 27, 2009, at her residence surrounded by her loving family under the care of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.
A lifelong resident of Petersburgh, she was born on July 14, 1927 to the late John H. Weaver and Florence Moon Weaver Groux. After graduating from high school, she attended nursing school where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She had worked at the Watervliet Arsenal and retired from General Cable in Williamstown, MA, after over 40 years of service. Her hobbies included going to tag sales, rug hooking, reading and listening to polka music. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Edward O. Michaels, her longtime companion, Andrew Prebble, her brother, Lewis Bryon Weaver, and her step-father, Claude T. Groux.
Survivors include her children, Bruce A. and wife Sally Michaels of Petersburgh, Sally and husband Clarence Hurley of Granville, NY, and Judy Schnaderbeck of Argyle, NY, her siblings, Dorothy Alderman, Eleanor Jones, John S. Weaver, Betty Weaver and Larry C. Groux, and fourteen grandchildren along with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was especially close to granddaughters Tammy Hughes and Diedra Greene along with her great grandson Brett Hughes.
Graveside services are on Thursday, October 29, at 2 pm in the Weaver Family Cemetery, East Hollow Road, Petersburgh. Arrangements are under the direction of the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home of Petersburgh.
