The Book Discussion Group of the Stephentown Memorial Library will read The Worst Hard Time by Timothy Egan for its meeting on Thursday, May 7. Egan, a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, reveals the scope of the book in his subtitle, “The Untold Story of Those Who Survived The Great American Dust Bowl.” He captures the voices of those who stayed ╔ and survived ╔ the dust storms that terrorized the plains in the darkest years of the Depression. Reviewers called the book ‘can’t-put-it-down history’ of the worst weather-caused disaster of the twentieth century.
Copies of the book are available at the library desk. The meetings are held in the Community Room at the Stephentown Memorial Library, Main Street, Stephentown, from noon to 1 pm. Bring a lunch. New readers are always welcome. For more information, call 518-733-5750.
