The Rensselaer County Legislature and the County Environmental Management Council are sponsoring an Earth Day poster contest, with winners receiving tickets to the new Disney movie Earth, Chairman of the Legislature Neil J. Kelleher announced.
The Earth Day poster submissions will be judged on how they portray Earth Day or an environmental issue, a clear message conveyed by the text and the artwork and for creativity, originality and artistic quality.
Winners will be chosen in two categories, grades k-2 and grades 3-6. Participants must be residents of Rensselaer County. Each contestant may only submit one poster, with a maximum poster size of 22 inches by 30 inches. The posters created by students must feature their own original artwork.
Along with each winner receiving tickets to the new Disney movie Earth, the winning submissions will be displayed in the County Office Building in downtown Troy during the spring.
Poster entries can be submitted to the Rensselaer County Environmental Management Council, County Government Building, 1600 7th Avenue, Troy, NY, 12180. Posters must be submitted by May 1, and must have name, address, school and grade attached along with contact information. Posters can also be dropped off at the EMC or the majority offices of the County Legislature, both located in the County Office Building.
“We know how many talented students we have in Rensselaer County and we are very excited to see the submissions in the coming weeks,” said Shannon, who is chair of the Legislature’s Environmental Committee.
