The Stephentown Memorial Library held its annual meeting on November 19. The President of the Board, Sue Brissette announced that Laurenne Teachout would be the new Director of the Library. A slate of Board members was proposed for nomination. Tony Beverly, Joan Brokalis, Pam Kueppers and Jessica Rontey were all unanimously selected.
The main topic of the evening was that of the Library restructuring from an Association Library to a Special Legislative District Library. Brissette explained what this restructuring process entails. The motion was passed unanimously to proceed with the restructuring. If you would like more information about Special Legislative District Libraries, please visit the Library.
Food For Fines
We will be sponsoring a Food for Fines week December 9 through December 13.╩ If you owe fines at the Stephentown Memorial Library use them to feed the hungry. Food will be accepted in lieu of fines the week of December 9 through December 13. Fines for overdue materials, regardless of the amount, will be cleared from your record at the rate of one fine per one non-perishable, unexpired, unopened food donation. Only overdue items – not lost or damaged items – are eligible. All food donations will be forwarded to the Stephentown Emergency Food Pantry for distribution to needy families in Stephentown. So clear your conscience of all those overdue books and benefit your community at the same time!
Closed For Thanksgiving
Library will be closed for Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday and Friday this week.╩ We will be open as usual on Saturday.
