The Stephentown Historical Society will hold its holiday potluck dinner on Monday, December 1, at 6:30 pm at the Stephentown Heritage Center, Garfield Road (County Route 26), Stephentown. After dinner, Kathy Sheehan will tell about Christmas decorations and traditions “From Holly To Bubble Lights.” Officers and Board members will be elected at the brief business meeting.For the dinner, bring a dish large enough to share – main course, salad or dessert. Beverages and table service are provided. Those wanting to participate in the optional holiday gift exchange should bring a wrapped $3 gift marked for your own gender.
Sheehan will highlight the evolution of Christmas decorations and traditions from 1823 to the 1950s in her illustrated talk. Sheehan is the Registrar of the Rensselaer County Historical Society and the Rensselaer County Historian. She has a wealth of knowledge and a contagious enthusiasm for local history. You may bring some of your own vintage decorations for display.
