The article on the Hoosick Fire District vote in last week’s Eastwick Press incorrectly stated that the Pittstown Fire Department’s building had been condemned and that a new building will cost $1.9 million.
According to Pittstown Assistant Chief Matt Harris the building has not been condemned. “It’s in dire need of repair and part of it is in extremely poor condition, but it has not been condemned,” he said. He said there has been no bid letting for the new fire house at this time. The new building will be constructed on property the District has already purchased across the street from the present structure. Harris said, “We have an engineer working on plans. We don’t know what the price tag will be. We hope we can put something together that we can afford, with enough in the budget to pay for the new station without an increase to the taxpayers.”
