The 19th Annual Gathering sponsored by the Hancock Historical Commission will be held on Sunday, November 2, at 2 pm at the Hancock Central School. This year’s free event entitled “Treasures, Whimsies & What’s Its” will feature antiques dealer and professional appraiser Tom Carpentier, owner of Red Barn Antiques in New Lebanon. Tom, assisted by Bill Shannon, will give a presentation and offer quick appraisals of items the audience has brought. It is suggested that people bring three to five small items, including things they consider ugly, ordinary, worthless or bizarre, as these items often turn out to have surprisingly greater value than expected. Large pieces, such as furniture, cannot be accommodated, but pictures of them are welcome. The public is invited.
