A Walking Tour Of The Historic Grafton Green

August 17, 2017 By eastwickpress

By Doug La Rocque

The number of participants that gathered in the Town Park this past Saturday, August 12, was large enough that event organizers split into two separate groups to highlight the history of the park, building by building as they went along.

Grafton’s Gordon (Gunny) Gundrum explains some of the history of what is now the Grafton Senior Center. Gunny once owned the building and gifted it to the Town so the Center could be built. Photo by Doug La Rocque

Everyone was provided with a booklet that detailed the park since its inception in 1848.  The booklet is quite detailed and contains many pictures of the green and the building surrounding it, some dating back to the late 1800’s.  Most are part of the Grafton Historical Society’s collection, the organization that sponsored the event.
