Hoosick Falls – Frederick J. Yager Sr., 92, passed away on Tuesday August 15, 2017 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT, surrounded by his family, after a brief illness.
Born March 1, 1925, Fred was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Yager Sr. and has been predeceased by them as well as siblings William Yager and Agnes Alarie. He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth Mary (Eldred) Yager, five of his children; Frederick J. Yager Jr., Michael D. Yager, Mark W. Yager, Karen E. Marchegiawni, Judith A. Kelley, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Frederick or Fred, as everyone knew him, was a great man of many talents. He grew up in Troy, NY and was a lifelong member of St. George’s Church in Pittstown, NY. Fred worked at Beekman Wholesalers and later Oak Mitsui, from which he retired. He was a loving family man, an avid bee keeper, woodworker and loved his garden. Fred was a one of a kind man, adored by his wife and children and the best “Grand Pa” his grandchildren could possibly have had.
There will be services as per his request, but please take a moment to reflect on this great man, the lasting impact he has made on all of us.
Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls.
