Ribbon Cutting For New Stewart’s Shop

County and town officials joined representatives of Stewart’s Shops on Friday morning, November 15, to officially open the company’s newest store, at the corner of NY Routes 22 and 67, right where the old shop once stood.

Budget Is Approved

New Water Operator Hired

Deputy Supervisor and Supervisor-elect Dennis Smith ran the Petersburgh Town Board meeting on November 18 because Supervisor Alan Webster could not attend because of illness. Denise Church was also not present, which Smith said was because of weather.

BES Student Ambassador Election

After a successful pilot year last school year the Student Ambassador Program at Berlin Elementary has really taken shape. Ambassador advisors, Mrs. Peter-Hoen and Mrs. Ruebel have expanded the program and created Ambassador Officers and held a schoolwide election this past week.

According to Ben Krahforst, the Director of Water District 2 and which serves primarily the village area, the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) testing has determined there is now a presence of PFOA at the midpoint in the GAC filter system, albeit minor.

2020 Budget Approved
At a special Town Board meeting held on Friday, November 15, the council members voted 3 to 1 to approve next year’s spending plan with Councilman Norman Rassmussen absent, and Interim Supervisor Meg Robertson casting the lone dissenting vote.
