A Unique Graduation at NLCS

June 30, 2022 By Eastwick Press

by Doug La Rocque

For the first time in the history of the New Lebanon Central School District (and probably the same for many schools around the Capital Region) twin brothers lead the Class of 2022 as Valedictorian and Salutatorian. Ben and Forest Chaput have shared a lot in their lives and now enjoy the honor of being tops in their graduating Class. As Valedictorian, Ben has earned many accolades for his academic accomplishments, participation in school sports and music programs and such outside activities as in his church and Boy Scouts of America. Ben is an Eagle Scout, scouting’s highest rank. This fall, Ben will be walking the campus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy majoring in Aerospace Engineering. All internal and external cameras have been installed at the Middle/High School, with the cameras for the Elementary School expected to be installed over the summer. Access control door installation is also expected be completed over the summer.

Superintendent Joseph Dhara has been in discussions with Rensselaer County about a School Resource Officer (SRO), and will update the Board as more information becomes available.

Berlin CSD will be participating in the Stop Arm Program. This is a free program through Rensselaer County that will install cameras inside and outside of buses. If someone passes the bus when the stop sign is out it will take a picture of the vehicle and send it to the Sheriff’s office.

The District is getting a Raptor system for visitor check-in. With the system, visitors to the building will need to provide identification that will be scanned to produce a name tag. The system should be available shortly.

Seiler/Akin, Potter/Woodard, Harrington Brothers, and Stevens/Shannon Punch Playoff Tickets at Dutchaven

June 29, 2022 By eastwickpress

Notes:  My family had the opportunity to help build beds in Greenwich.  There is an organization that provides beds for kids that don’t have them.  What a wonderful idea.  No kids sleep on the floor.  Not only did my family help out, but Pete and Kathy Coon brought their daughter, Lila, and a friend, Ashley Druckenmiller, to volunteer their time.  There are a lot of people that do great things.  I hope that we can focus on all the positives as this country works through how to be kind.  Congratulations to the 10U Hoosick Falls softball team for their All-Star tournament Championship.  If you have some setbacks, it makes the victory all the more sweet.   [Read more…] about Seiler/Akin, Potter/Woodard, Harrington Brothers, and Stevens/Shannon Punch Playoff Tickets at Dutchaven
