St. Mary’s Eagles Soar To 6 And 1 Record

After beginning the season with a disappointing loss at home to Sacred Heart, the St. Mary’s Academy girls seventh and eighth grade basketball team has run off six straight victories. The Eagles now stand 6 and 1 at the halfway point in their season following victories over Arlington, Grace Christian, Dorset and Manchester. Coach Donna M. Cuddihy has credited the streak to the incredible determination and teamwork of this year’s squad.

Mountain Road School Open House

Mountain Road School will host two events – an In-School Open House on Tuesday, February 8, from 9 am to 12 pm and  an evening Open House on February 11, from 5 to 7 pm. The In-school event on February 8 will provide prospective parents and children with an opportunity to tour the school while classes are in session.

Darrow School’s Coffeehouse Features Blues Musician

As part of its diverse music programming, Darrow School will present Coffeehouse, an evening of acoustic music, poetry, comedy and spoken word on Friday, January 28, starting at 8:30 pm. In addition to Darrow student and faculty musicians, local blues musician John Clarke will give an exclusive performance.

Darrow School Hosts Open House

Darrow School, an independent, college preparatory boarding and day school in New Lebanon, will host an Open House on Monday, January 17, from 10 am to 2:30 pm. The event includes a full information session, an in-depth discussion with faculty, lunch with students and faculty, a Q&A with current students and tours of Darrow’s historic Shaker campus.

Siena College Adopts SMA

On Wednesday, January 5, members of the Siena College Mens and Womens basketball teams visited four Capital District schools as part of the College’s annual Adopt-a-School program. St. Mary’s Academy Ham Dinner

St. Mary’s Academy will be hosting another one of its fantastic Friday night dinners on Friday, January 7, (snow date January 8).  Dinner includes spiral baked ham, potatoes, vegetable, coffee and dessert.  Dinner will be served in the St. Mary’s Academy gym from 5 to 7 pm (or until supplies last).  Dinners cost $10 for adults, $5 for kids 10 and under.
Take-out is available, or join us in the gym for dinner.  All are welcome, we even have a coloring area for kids. Take the night off and let us cook and clean up. For more information, please call 518-686-4314 ext. 202.

St. Mary’s Academy Student Madison Woodley Receives Scholarship

St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls is proud to announce that eighth-grader Madison Woodley has been awarded a scholarship to attend Catholic Central High School in Troy for four years beginning with the 2011-2012 school year.  There were 13 students who received this honor based on academic performance on CCHS’ placement exam. Madison is an active member of 4H and participates in both soccer and basketball at St. Mary’s. Madison is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Woodley of Petersburgh.

TV Personalities At The SMA Cabaret

Once again the St. Mary’s Academy gymnasium was transformed for the 2010 Holiday Cabaret. Low lights and lighted Christmas trees added just the right ambiance. Sumptuous appetizers, drinks, delicious desserts and coffee added to the seasonal warmth and charm. Then there were the irresistible Silent Auction items that always tantalize bidders.
