St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls will be holding a basketball tournament this weekend for fifth and sixth and seventh and eighth grade teams, both boys and girls. The teams consist of Hoosick Falls, Bennington, Cambridge and Hoosic Valley players. The games will be held Friday, March 16, from 4 to 7 pm, Saturday from 8 am to 7 pm and Sunday, March 18, from 10 am to 6 pm.

Hoosac School Wins NEPSAC Class D Basketball Championship

The Hoosac School’s boys basketball team defeated the MacDuffie School of Granby, MA, last Sunday, March 4, in the New England Prep School Athletic Council Championship game by a score of 64-57.
Hoosac, seeded third in the eight team tournament, breezed by Chase Collegiate of Waterbury, CT, in the quarterfinals on Thursday, 80-53, and fought off the second seeded Bancroft School of Worcester, MA, in the semifinal on Friday, 57-47, to reach Sunday’s final against the #1 seed, and undefeated in Class D, MacDuffie School.

Drop By And See Why Small Is Really BIG!

To welcome members of the surrounding communities in to celebrate Catholic Schools Week, St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls will be hosting a “Drop By and See Us” Open House the week of January 30 through Friday, February 3. Parents and students in pre-k and third through seventh grade are welcome to visit anytime between 8:30 am and 2 pm Monday through Thursday and between 8:30 and 11 am on Friday. Siena College Athletes Adopt St. Mary’s Academy
Men and women basketball players from Siena College paid a special visit to St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls as part of their annual Adopt-a-School program. The athletes held skills clinics for the students, demonstrated their own skills and even took time out for a competitive game of Pictionary. Hats For Cancer In Memory Of Susan Greenberg
The kindergarten class at St. Mary’s Academy recently held a Hats For Cancer fund-raiser in memory of their beloved teacher, Susan Greenberg, who passed away this past fall after a brief battle with cancer. Mrs. Greenberg was an assistant in the pre-k classroom at SMA last year. Her students in the current kindergarten class wanted to do something to honor her memory.

St. Mary’s Academy Indoor Volleyball Tournament
On Saturday, January 21, from 10 am to 4 pm, St. Mary’s Academy will be hosting its annual indoor volleyball tournament. Competitive (“A”) and Non-Competitive (“B”) teams are invited to participate. The cost is $30 per player or $25 per player if you pre-register and pay for a team of six by January 13.
