Panther Matmen Go 3-2 At Burgher Duals

Facing off against teams from elsewhere in Section II and beyond, the Hoosick Falls wrestling team went 3-2 at the Burgher Duals on Saturday, January 7, in Warrensburg. The Panthers recorded wins over Beekmantown, Albany Academy and Morrisville Eaton while falling to host Warrensburg and Hudson Falls.

HFCS Midterm And Regents/RCT Exam Schedule
The Hoosick Falls Central School District’s Midterm and Regents/RCT Exams will be given Tuesday, January 24, through Friday, January 27. There will be no classes during the week, except for Monday, January 23. Regular morning bus transportation to school will be provided. Return bus service will be provided at 11:30 am, 2:15 pm and 3:15 pm. There will be no 4:20 pm bus run, except on Monday, January 23. On Friday, January 27, there will be no 2:15 pm return bus service.

Next HFCS PTA Meeting

Panthers Dominate Bengals On Mat

The Hoosick Falls wrestling team traveled to Tamarac High School on Friday, December 30, for its only match over the Christmas break. The Panthers made the one match worth their time as they won 58-15 against their Wasaren League opponent.

Panther Bowlers Win Two More
The Hoosick Falls bowling team defeated Whitehall on Wednesday, December 21, by the score of 4-0. Hoosick Falls now has a record of 31-1 and Whitehall now has a record of 6-18. The top bowler for Whitehall was Rich Tisi with a 233-609. The top bowlers for Hoosick Falls were Josh McCart 279-697, Josh Conn 215-636, Joe Wolfrum 259-614, Bryan Callahan 236-601, Mitch Andrew 202-591 and Mikaela Marbot 209-534. The top JV bowlers were Jordan Colvin 214-565, Ken Marbot 201-547 and Stephen Surdam 204-543.

HFCS’s Varsity Club Kicks Off Fundraiser With Cumberland Farms

Cumberland Farms customers received a special treat Friday afternoon, December 16, when they entered the store on Church Street. They were greeted with trays of hot sandwiches and pizza to sample. It was the company’s celebration of the reopening of the updated store. Cumberland Farms Regional Director Brian VanBuren said the company has over 800 stores and they expect another 60 to receive the updated chill zones and coffee bars, food services and gas pumps in 2012. VanBuren’s region has 55 stores from Warrensburg to Cairo, NY, and, so far, six of them have been upgraded, including the Hoosick Falls location. Joining VanBuren at the store was Cumberland Farms District Manager Jim Long.

Free Throws Push Panthers To Victory In Triple OT

After watching the first quarter of Tuesday night’s Hoosick Falls versus Stillwater matchup, you would not think a close game was a possibility, let alone a triple overtime nail-biter. That’s what happened though as the Warriors battled back from an early double digit deficit to give the spectators in Hoosick Falls a little extra basketball.

On Thursday, December 15, the HFCS bowling team won a tri-match against North Warren, 4-0, and Lake George, 4-0. The total match pin count was Hoosick Falls – 3,803 to North Warren’s 2,524 and Lake George’s 2,724. Fourth Quarter Surge Leads Witches Over Panthers

On December 1, 1961, the Hoosick Falls Central School opened their brand new gym with a Washington County League boys basketball game against Stillwater. Spectators entering Tuesday night’s game at the school received a photocopy of the article discussing the new gym’s opening that was published in the Hoosick Falls Standard Press on Thursday, November 30, 1961. Look for more 50th Anniversary Season highlights at games as the season continues.
